Default wireless connection
Hi,

Just installed 1.5 and trying to make a wireless connection
on a pcmcia adapter (dlink dwl-650+).

I am particularly interested in using windows drivers via
ndiswrapper/madwifi.

Has anyone tried this successfully?

Thanks.

I know some cards like that are supported via the ath driver.

Code:
D-Link DWL-A650      AR5210    CardBus    a
      D-Link DWL-AB650     AR5211    CardBus    a/b
      D-Link DWL-A520      AR5210    PCI        a
      D-Link DWL-AG520     AR5212    PCI        a/b/g
      D-Link DWL-AG650     AR5212    CardBus    a/b/g
      D-Link DWL-G520B     AR5212    PCI        b/g
      D-Link DWL-G650B     AR5212    CardBus    b/g
What does it say when you open a console and run the ifconfig program?

Hi,

Right now, I am switching between my laptop
and desktop using a removable usb drive to
provide you with the following result:

%ifconfig
fxp0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
options=8<VLAN_MTU>
ether 00:00:e2:8a:e2:8d
media: Ethernet autoselect (none)
status: no carrier
plip0: flags=108810<POINTOPOINT,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,NEEDSGI ANT> mtu 1500
lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384
inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x3
inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128
inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000
pflog0: flags=0<> mtu 33208
pfsync0: flags=0<> mtu 2020
syncpeer: 224.0.0.240 maxupd: 128

Hopefully, someone doesn't ask me for a longer
output from my laptop as my usb drive is only
512 MB.

Thanks.

Hmm, doesn't seem to be detected.

If you boot the system with the card removed, press control+alt+f1 and insert the card does it say any thing in the console? You can get back to the desktop by pressing control+alt+f5

Looks to me like the cards not supported by any of the drivers compiled into the kernel (which is most of them) so ndisgen is probably the only option.
