I know Matt is still working with Adobe to get us a native Flash9 app, and I am hopeful that it'll happen sometime this year.

Also, just a heads up. If you download the latest Wine 0.9.54 PBI and install Win Firefox + Flash 9, it works without crashing now! At least thats an option for viewing flash9 sites

Hokay, I just installed pcbsd 7.1 (it rocks! thanks for pushing such a great product out to the world!)

But I personally don't like .pbi, so I installed firefox3 from ports by executing "portinstall" from the root command line in www/firefox3 directory

How do I install flash in this method of installing firefox?

preferably flash 9

I just can't find the thread or KB guide to do so using a non-pbi installation...

I'm not trying to be lazy...I just don't know if it can be done...I've tried my best with google-fu

thank you for your help!

Flash 9 is available through wine emulation. You'll have to stick to the Win-FF PBI, or do it manually with wine, ff and flash. There isn't a wine-plugin-wrapper of sorts that works with FreeBSD binaries that I know of.

you can install the www/linux-flashplugin9 port, but in my experience it means a lot more browser crashes and lockups in firefox, www/linux-flashplugin7 works well enough, pardoning occasional lockups....

In my experience, the linux port of flash9 is practically unusable. Wined Flash9 is the lesser evil.

Considering my opinion of WINE, linux-flashplugin7 is the lest evil in my case.

Since I'm to lazy to just download the YouTube files and feed into mplayer; when my friends send me links lol.

You really don't need one. All you have to do is download the Windows version of Firefox, run it and when the install is done just go to foxnews.com and click on any video. It will tell you you do not have flash installed and ask you if you want to get it. Just follow the prompts and you are done. It is pretty straight forward.

I was really happy when I saw the amd64 dvd PCBSD downloads.
I hadn't posted since 8/2008 nor been around much as I have been concentrating on only my amd64 bit installs with LINUX. Plus now I read that we had a flashplugin9. So I downloaded 7.02 amd64. However, when I read this thread I hesitated to install.

I thought that at least it was a stable linux-flashplugin9...
A lot of hard work has gone into this port and I applaud the work.
...That said, I just like to add my voice to the cry of
1. We need a good non-WINE flash
....the internet is saturated with flash.
2. We need an all BSD installation...
.....unfortunately all the building blocks aren't available.

I dislike using WINE stuff and Linux pieces in BSD.
