Default edit loader.conf graphically
i have trouble editing loader.conf with vi in the console, so i'd like to edit it with some text editor in KDE. i tried to login as root graphically, but i wasn't allowed. any suggestions?

what are you problem with vi ?

you know that you can use the "man" command to see the manual of vi

type: man vi

i press "a" which i should to be able to write right? then i press shift+3 to get # but nothing shows.

"kdesu kate /boot/loader.conf"
what exactly does that do? is kate an application?

kdesu = Switch to root user for this application
kate = Text editor
/boot/loader.conf = This is passed to kate which will open the file at that path.

i put a # in front of boot time delay, or whatever it says, and saved but i still got boot time delay.
and yes, i have checked that my changes were saved.

If you comment it out (#) then the system will revert to whatever the default value is. You'll probably have better luck setting it to 0.
