Default PC-BSD 1.4.1 Available
Heads up everybody!

PC-BSD 1.4.1 is now available!

You can grab ISO's and VMware here:

http://www.pcbsd.org/content/view/21/11/

I've also made a patch PBI for 1.4 -> 1.4.1

http://www.pcbsd.org/content/view/42/11/

Here's a list of the big stuff fixed:

PCBSD 1.4.1 - Changelog (11-16-07)
--------------------------
* Upgrades Compiz 0.5.2 to Compiz-Fusion 0.6.0
* Switches from HPIJS to HPLIP for better printer / scanner support.
* Adds extra screen savers with X-Screensaver package
* Updates NVIDIA drivers to latest releases from NVIDIA.
* Updates GTK / Pango libraries to latest in ports
* Fixes some misc bugs with PBI Removal tool, and Network manager.
* Fixes issue with "tar" extract error during install when using custom partitioning.
* Switches ISO to LZMA compression, speeding up the install and reducing the size of the CD ISO image.
* Fixed bug with some of doc files have unreadable permissions
* Added anacron config into base system
* Fixed bug starting the PCBSD Updater tool

Cool :)
I'm just starting to download it. I hope to have no problems with this version.

I have updated via the pbi two computers.

On both cases, doing (with an up to date ports tree) pkgdb -F, I find three stale dependencies:

print/foomatic-filters
print/py-reportlab2
graphics/gle

Portinstalling from packages fixes this.

I installeds it tonight using the PBI updater and so far everything is working just fine. The updated Compiz seems to have fixed the problems I was having with the earlier version. Google Earth version 4 loads and runs properly now.

Thanks to the whole team for the hard work.

Bill

The upgrade seems to have fixed my missing window decorations in Compiz problem. But I still don't have a remove PBI option anywhere in the menus, eg Start Menu > Settings > System Administration > Remove Programs (PBIs).

Updating with the installation cd, this dependencies are installed, still, pkgdb -F complains about stale dependencies from the additional kde components
Code:
Stale dependency: kdeedu-3.5.7 -> bitstream-vera-1.10_4 (x11-fonts/bitstream-vera):
Stale dependency: kdeedu-3.5.7 -> font-bh-ttf-1.0.0 (x11-fonts/font-bh-ttf):
Stale dependency: kdeedu-3.5.7 -> font-misc-meltho-1.0.0_1 (x11-fonts/font-misc-meltho):
Stale dependency: kdevelop-3.4.1_1 -> gmake-3.81_2 (devel/gmake):
Stale dependency: koffice-1.6.3,2 -> postgresql-libpqxx-2.6.9 (databases/postgresql-libpqxx):
--->  Installing 'postgresql-libpqxx-2.6.9' from a package
---> Installing databases/postgresql81-client as dependency required by postgresql-libpqxx-2.6.9
--->  Installing 'postgresql-client-8.1.10' from a port (databases/postgresql81-client)
Stale dependency: koffice-1.6.3,2 -> mysql-client-5.0.41 (databases/mysql50-client):
Trying to install spanish support from pkg_add from the cd to a fresh us-english install, as indicated in the faq, also reports 3 missing dependencies.

P.S. NO BBcode? WTF!

Code:
# man pkg_add
Code:
     -f Force installation to proceed even if prerequisite packages are
             not installed or the requirements script fails. Although pkg_add
             will still try to find and auto-install missing prerequisite
             packages, a failure to find one will not be fatal.
