keyboard layout (swiss french)
I would like to give PC-BSD a try, but before doing it, I prefer to ask. Does PC-BSD support my swiss french keyboard?
The question may seem stupid, but I think it's not. On Linux in console mode, changing the kbd layout can be achieved through
loadkeys <map_file>.
Unfortunatelly, this is not working completely. Only a part of the keys are mapped. All the diacritical chars and chars using dead keys are not working. After googling, I found, Linux is still not able to handle keyboards correctly (see for example console tools).
I do not know BSD. Since the BSD kernel is different, I would like to have more info. I tried to find something on the FreeBSD site, without any success.
A second question (a little bit related to the above).
When I start BSD, does the system jump directly in X/KDE or should I "startx" manually?
win2k PC user (I guess i386 serie)
Thanks.
