Default Problem with PBI's and Kmenu
I've installed a few PBI's..

sometimes they add a desktop icon.. but I never saw a K Menu link.

I've figured out why.

It seems when you give your root password, it su's you, so it installs the icons and menu items as Root, so my normal user can't see them.

how can I fix this? when i ksu kmenuedit I get to see all the lovely packages I've installed, but I can't figure out how to get the ROOT menu to my normal menu....

anyone know how to fix this?

Hi
I have only installed one pbi (nvidia) this appears on the KDE user menu under "programs".
Have you got this entry "programs" showing on you KDE user menu? If so open it and see what is listed.
Hopes this helps.

Strange, the PBI installer doesn't actually put the KMenu items in anyones KMenu, it puts it in a shared location which is supposed to show up on ALL KMenu's.

/usr/local/share/applnk/ is where you should find 'em all. Seems like you've changed the behaviour of your KMenu from the default. Not sure how you'd have done that or how to fix it though. Any idea if you might have done something recently that'd alter this behaviour?

I think there is a file somewhere, I remember reading about it, there is a file that you edit and this file dictates what icons and settings will be present by default when a new user is created. I am sure some of you will know what I am talking about. I can't remember where this file is. May be it was a folder, I think it is in /etc somewhere.

/PCBSD/files/KDEDefault.tar

but sadly this file is not updated automagically.

the only change I did, was removing the programs from their directorys to the programs dir

so

programs->xmms->xmms.desktop
became
programs->xmms.desktop

my installed programs were under
/root/.kde/share/applnk

i moved them to

/home/shawn/.kde/share/applnk
and nothing
moved them to
/usr/local/share/applnk/

hrm. Investigating, looks like Maybe something got messed up, cause they are in all directories now and still nothign shows up

is there anyway to restord the KDE Menu as it was by default?
