Default boot loader
Hi all,
I've installed 3 times PCBSD (1.3 and 1.4rc) but I'm not able to install the boot loader.
During the installation, the check box indicating the installation of the BSD boot loader is set.
Installation completed without errors. but after the boot I see the boot loader I use with linux.

Any idea?

Or... can you suggest me the lines to insert in GRUB menu.lst? PCBSD is installed on hdb3.

Thank you.

Did you try installing the bootloader manually?

Type:
boot0cfg -B ad0
In the console, you may need to replace the diskname.
You can open a console from the PCBSD installer by right-clicking on the desktop, you can quit the installer after installing the bootloader.

it works, but I'm sure that in a previous installation the boot loader was installed during the first installation procedure.

thank you

If I remember correctly it's an option (checkbox) and is on by default.
Maybe you accidentally un-ticked the box?

You're welcome.

Ahem... I know I'm not enough energetic , but tried it 3or 4 times and every time the box was checked.
I know it worked when I installed PCBSD for the first time some months ago and I was surprised about this "accident". I tried with 1.3 then with 1.4rc.
The only explanation, IMHO, is that I've PCBSD installed on the second drive.

Thank you

Ah, this explains it, when you PC boots it will usually look for a bootmanager on your primary master.
In your case, grub was sitting on your primary master, and PCBSD installed the bootloader to you primary slave (Or secondary [master|slave]), making it semi-useless.

Isn't it a bug?
