Default dial up modem support for connection to the internet?
Hello,

Have never used pcbsd and don't know anyone who does but am considering installing it on a system for personal use. One firm requirement would be, connectivity to the Internet must be via a dial up modem (no cable modem etc.). Does anyone use pcbsd this way? Is there a list of 'supported' (known to work) modems?

For this modem question and for pcbsd in general, would appreciate suggestions for any web sites or books I should look into, this forum is the first place I've looked/asked.

thanks,
carrots

Welcome to the forums carrots. You will need to search these forums for dialup modem as there is all the answers noted at one time or another to connect via dialup. There are drivers for both the conexant and lt win modem but I believe the easiest and best would be an external hooked to a serial port as you shouldn't have to install any drivers for one of those.
