acd0: FAILURE - READ BIG ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x64 ascq=0x00
I guet this error in PC-BSD's installer, right before the graphical ncurses console phase.
acd0: FAILURE - READ BIG ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x64 ascq=0x00
acd0: FAILURE - READ BIG ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x64 ascq=0x00
Does anyone have a clue on what is causing this?

I think I heard some thing about tar having issues reading from its own tape drive or some thing w/o being told the block size. But thats about it.
Maybe need to play /w the Drive Geometry settings in the BIOS?

No, no, no- this is just noisy FreeBSD- all cds got flaws and error correction code built in you just won't see it in windows and even Linux because they hide nonrelevant information from users.

I got the same thing too, twice, right before it places itself into memory...works fine so it's shouldn't be an issue.

I know it works fine. It's the same here but we should hide these kind of messages if they are irrelevant. These messages will only frighten casual users.

Better cd/dvd media- I'd recommend RW versions. Better cd/dvd drive- seriously anyone know one? All that crap that was produced in china is no go.
