Default feel-good stories
I need some more feel-good stories with PC-BSD.

A am getting a link to PC-BSD up at http://www.aprelium.com about the Abyss web server .pbi. They already had one on FreeBSD, so I expect a quick solution.

Well, for me:- I use a Sony VAIO PCG-F403. PC-BSD does 99.9% of what I want it to do with minimal tweaking out of the box. The PBI philosophy makes life a great deal easier, and is a lot easier than the Package/Ports system for a new user. Addtionally, unlike the windows MSI system, the PBI architecture leaves the system as it was prior to installation. Fast and stable on a PIII with 256 Mb of memory, it binds well with Sony technology, which has a tendency to to be overly proprietary with most OS (I couldn't get a stable Linux distro to run on the machine)

I'm using PC-BSD for everything = internet, word processing, reading spreadsheets, pdf's, printing on an old LJ-5 that connects directly to the network switch, burning & watching DVD's.

The only thing I can't do is play Guild Wars via Cedega or Wine, so I'm running my 2nd machine on Ubuntu for that one reason...

I know that it won't take too long before I will be able to play GW via PC-BSD too, & then I can dump linux, though I will still continue to be involved in the excellent Ubuntu community.

I am grateful to Ubuntu, it gave me a way out from windoze. Now I have found PC-BSD & like it more than linux that doesn't mean that I will ever bad mouth linux, I remain grateful & helpful to Ubuntu where I can be...
