Default mplayer
I know that mplayer is already installed on at least 1.3

From their site:
Code:
What is the required software?
For the mplayerplug-in to work correctly you need to install mplayer and install all the optional codecs for it. If you do not install the codecs several formats may not work. Mplayer v1.0pre5 is the minimal version.
For Apple.com HD trailers a version of mplayer newer than Oct 2005 is required.
Recommended components of mplayer:

    * FAAD
    * lame and/or lame-devel
    * live.com (needed for rtsp/sdp urls)
I believe lame is already installed too (I could be wrong, I'm looking at a modified 1.3) but FAAD
Code:
audio/faad                MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AAC audio decoder
and live.com
Code:
net/liveMedia             LIVE.COM Streaming Media
and its plugin
Code:
www/mplayer-plugin A Mozilla plugin for the MPlayer media player
are not.

Any thoughts?

It would be nice, since Kaffeine and MPlayer + All Codecs.pbi are the best media players your likely to get for Video on PC-BSD.

For codecs I usually go here:
http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/
...and download the latest All-<some_date>.tar.gz and extract it to /usr/local/lib/codecs
