Default Howto "Mount" usb scan device
Hello,

1/ Installed by ports : xsane
2/ Installed by pkg_add: kdegraphics-kooka
3/ Installed by ports : sane-backends
4/ Installed by ports : sane-frontends

Problem: - USB scan device attached ( HP Scanjet 4300 C)

1/ xsane - scanning for devices - no devices attached...
2/ in terminal -- sane-find-scanner

# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

# No USB scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel driver for your USB host controller and have setup
# the USB system correctly. See man sane-usb for details.

# Not checking for parallel port scanners.

# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.

# You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
# found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
# necessary.
3/ kooka....is starting( but and that looks normally to me after 1 and 2 )
menu .... select scan device..... nothing happens...

Question: can someone help with...
Command: in terminal : witch usb devices are attached ?
or
in terminal : the correct command to attache te usb-scanner ( probably with the command $sane and then I don't know....or better I don't understand ?

Thx in advance

Niklaas

Default
sane does not support HP4300 by default
you need additional backend: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hp3300backend
