Default Removing 'Start' from the Kmenu
Ok ok, I know this was touched upon in the announcement thread.

And on my original install of PCBSD, I could get rid of it. But I needed more space, so I had to make a new partition.

I have gone into .kde/share/config/kickerrc and changed the showtext to false AND deleted the following line. (in fact, I've tried every combination possible, as well as just getting rid of all the lines)

I have run 'dcop kicker kicker restart' in the Konsole.

But that damn word won't disappear!

This is the first thing I've done on my clean install (after installing Firefox), so I cannot imagine what else it could be preventing it. Is there anything else that might be causing this?

Yeah I hate that little "start' image too. It bugs me...Reminds me too much of the evil empire Microsoft.

Well, I restarted the computer and it's still there.

I would think that would have the same effect as logging in an out would.

The text of the "Start" button comes from ~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc , and you can disable the text by marking ShowText=false:

Code:
[KMenu]
ShowText=true
Text=Start
Text was removed instantly after dcop kicker kicker restart
