Default <RESOLVED>MD5Sums Question
Hello, I have just downloaded CD1 & CD2 of PC-BSD 1.2. I qualified the MD5Sums at the command-line as I would do for a Linux ISO. I am currently using Debian Sarge and SimplyMepis 6.0.

Code:
goatman@1[downloads]$ md5sum PCBSD-1.2-x86-CD1.iso
7db7864465651407e4e10bcea47542ad PCBSD-1.2-x86-CD1.iso
goatman@1[downloads]$ md5sum PCBSD-1.2-x86-CD2.iso
23aab3cce480a9df04a65955039c47a1 PCBSD-1.2-x86-CD2.iso
goatman@1[downloads]$

I have copied and pasted to OO.o word processor with this read-out .....

Quote:
7db7864465651407e4e10bcea47542ad PCBSD-1.2-x86-CD1.iso Command Line
7db7864465651407e4e10bcea47542ad – PC-BSD Download Page
3aab3cce480a9df04a65955039c47a1 - PCBSD-1.2-x86-CD2.iso Command Line
23aab3cce480a9df04a65955039c47a1 - PC-BSD Downloads Page

As you will note: CD2 has an extra number at the beginning (a #2)

I would like to know if this is a misprint on the Downloads page, or if I need to re-download this CD2 because of corrupted data in the download. I have not seen this kind of MD5Sum mis-numbering before. I did not know where to report this, so I have chosen this avenue. Please get back to me post-haste, as I wish to burn these CD's ASAP .

I think this is copy/paste error. CD-s are identical.

I checked it twice (thinking the same thing as you), but that's the way it came out! It's a rhetorical question now, as PC-BSD has trashed my Linux partitions and quit the install Here, but I thought by posting, it might help out someone else if they get the same problem. I'm assuming, by your answer, that the MD5Sums posted on the Downloads page are correct! Thank you for your quick response.

I have good news; the only Linux partition that wasn't trashed was good ol' Beatrix (now defunct, I think). that has been the only Linux distro that is impervious to almost any kind of problem but an atom bomb! Too bad they didn't make it past the 2005 version .

That aside, I am about to venture into the BSD Zone! I am giving over my XP hard-drive (40Gb) into the hands of PC-BSD!

I am very excited about this .... I have wanted to get into BSD for about 5 years, but was not computer literate enough to do it yet, and I am too old to learn in a day or two . I have been told by a friend (Masinick of http://www.USALUG.org ) that PC-BSD is as user friendly as Mepis Linux or Libranet Linux.

I am coming here to this Forum with the hopes of receiving the help I need to master this OS.

M$ Free! ..... that's my goal!

I hope everyone here is as friendly as the people at USALUG. Thanks, goatman

This forums a lot more friendly then some I've seen, not to offend the XMMS community. :-)

Thanks for the Welcome, ..... as for the winter, we had high hopes, but in the past two days, we've had 4 inches of the white stuff, so it looks like we're in for it .
