Neather XGL, Compiz, or Beryl are in ports as of my last cvsup.

Installation on PC-BSD is the same as FreeBSD 6.1-Release, only PC-BSD is setup with Xorg6.9, KDE 3.5.3 and a few other things to make it a desktop that may need updating (PC-BSD v1.2)

Would you know if XGL/Beryl is more stable then XGL/Compiz ?? I once went out to set it up on regular FreeBSD but I ran out of to get Gnome installed for Compiz.

PS: I doubt if you'll ever see it as Standard Issue until every body has upgraded to PCs that can run Windows Vista with AERO so they have decent Gfx cards to run PC-BSD with XGL/Beryl xD

XGL/Compiz/Beryl all require xorg 7.x and freeBSD uses 6.9

It will be some time before freeBSD switches because it is a major change ie, xorg 7 is modular.

Terry: I tried beryl on a sabayon liveCD and it was awesome. From what I hear beryl is most definately better than compiz. It also ran at 300-500 fps on my older nvidia FX5600, if I remember right. Even a 1Ghz system with 128 RAM and an old video card like the geforce4 (or even a crappy integrated 3d vga controller) will run beryl very smoothly. Eat that microsoft.

CPU: 1 GHZ
RAM: 256 Mb
There is references to installation directions: Compiz_FreeBSD_6.x
1. But I do not know, what problems can appear, when installing on PCBSD-1.2.
More so, I do not want to install GNOME in vain. Suddenly beside me not to be install and adjust Compiz.
2. Beside me Nvidia, but in managament is written about Radeon %).
Who can help with installation?
Can correct manual for use in PCBSD c video card nvidia?

I would not recommend trying to install compiz/XGL. That guide is very complicated and doesn't apply to your hardware. You can try 3D-desktop instead.

Which has not worked (via PBI) on any of my computers  So I use kompose.

Beryl is a fork of compiz without as much Gnome'esity to it. After reading a bit of that guide, I say what I say to GNU/Linux users: "What the frig is /opt for !"

The only drastic change I make to my comp's hier on *BSD is symlinking /mnt/daNsN to /Lexar for fast typing (/L<tab>/folder).

KDE provides a high level of graphic effects like transperency, transitions and many more. Check the KDE control panel. I believe that 3D-desktop only provides the virtual desktop 3D effect, no effects for individual windows.
