Default Freenx
Tried installing Freenx - but no luck !
I used pkg_add -r freenx firstly. This proceeded with some warnings about allready installed files. After completion nothing would start. Pkg_info showed no results.
Then tried pkg_add -r nxserver. This resulted in File unavailable.
Then I tried portinstall nxserver. This returned - updateing pkg data base - done.

Freenx does not fire up !

Search these forums for freenx...madman made a pbi for which there was still a link last time I tried and antik posted a link for a list of windows clients as the 2.0 client wont work.

Default FreeNX rambles
Please feel free to correct anything here. I am trying to test my FreeNX config. Below I add the path to the nxagent executable, then run the program. It cannot find a file which is installed.

[0@pcbsd-6118 /usr/home/0]$ export PATH=/usr/X11R6/NX/bin:$PATH
[0@pcbsd-6118 /usr/home/0]$ echo $PATH
/usr/X11R6/NX/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/0/bin
[0@pcbsd-6118 /usr/home/0]$ nxagent :1000
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libXcompext.so.1" not found, required by "nxagent"
[0@pcbsd-6118 /usr/home/0]$

pcbsd-6118# locate libXcompext
/usr/X11R6/NX/lib/libXcompext.so
/usr/X11R6/NX/lib/libXcompext.so.1
/usr/X11R6/NX/lib/libXcompext.so.1.4.0

Followed the link. He has the same problem as me on a Linux client - BSD NX server.

(snip)
I am then presented with the login screen, I enter username/password/host and click Login. All goes well until just before the remote session appears. I get a little popup saying "connecting blah..." "Negotiating Link parameters".... "Session BSDSERVER failed"

...but it appears to remain unanswered.

OK...let us go back to step one...josh/madman has created a freenx PBI (I don't know why it wasn't publically published...don't care if it breaks conventions...all I know is that it works) that you can still download here.

antik has posted a page where you can get the older clients (version 2.0 does not work with this PBI so I had to regress my Windows client from 2.0 back to 1.5).

I don't see in this thread what client you are using or on what OS it is. I can log on to my home (PC-BSD 1.2 running the freenx PBI above) from my WinXP at work as dracheflieger (don't try to login as nx and you must have ssh enabled) and using Windows noMachine nx client 1.5, no setup at all other than install and login. The only difference that I can see from work or on the local machine is the display resolution as I run higher at home than at work but other than things being 'bigger' it runs just like I am sitting at my house.
