Default Can't mountroot
Dear PCBSD friends,

I have a little problem, I had a harddrive with 4 partitions

ad0s1 Windows
ad0s2 Mandrake Linux
ad0s3 Mandrake Swap
ad0s4 PCBS with subpartitions

Than I deleted Mandrake Linux and Mandrake swap = partitions 2 and 3 and make one FAT32 partition from freespace.

In start up, PCBSD try mount root as ad0s4a. I know my new root mout is ufs:/dev/ad0s2a

System send me this message:
Trying mount root file system ad0s4a
Manual root filesystem specification:
<fstype>:<device> Mount <device> using filesystem <fstype>
eg. ufs:da0s1a
? List valid disk boot devices
<empty line> Abort manual input

mountroot>

I try type on my notebook keyboard, on usb keyboar, but it didn't work. I don't have PS2 port on my notebook HP nx9020. Interesting thing is I can turnoff the grafic logo PCBSD and show details start up.

I'm beginer wiht using FreeBSD, does anybody have any ideas?

If it's because it's trying to mount a partition thats not the right one:

Boot off the install cd [PC-BSD] and go into the tools/emegency shell and check the devices to make sure of the partitioning.

ls /dev/

So ad0s#a e.t.c. should be your BSD partitions.

mount your root partition (or where ever /etc is) like so:

mount /dev/ad0#a /mnt

Edit /etc/fstab and fix the entries.

ee /mnt/etc/fstab

If the command is not found you will have to supply the path to the command yourself.

/bin/ls
/sbin/mount
/mnt/usr/bin/ee

Dear TerryP,

I'm so happy, I do some changes in your opinion and all is all right.

Now I can use the best OS.

Once again thank you.
