Default Can I restore my PBI Programs menu?
Just like a n00b I didn't like having the PBI programs I had installed in one menu so I moved them to other places on the K Menu and then deleted the PBI Programs menu.

I now find that I cannot locate ANY further PBI installed software.

Is there a way I can restore my PBI Programs menu on the K Menu without a complete re-install of PC-BSD?

Code:
# mkdir "/usr/local/share/applnk/My Programs"

Thx Antik.

It seems that the folder was already there - I had only deleted it from the K Menu.

The problem is, when I create a new K Menu item for it in the K Menu Editor and then sub-items referencing each of the apps, eg. OO Writer, and save the new K Menu, The folder and sub-items are on the K Menu, but when I click on them nothing seems to happen, ie. the apps aren't loading. WTF is going on here?

I know I'm the cause of my own problem but I think this 'don't delete the PBI Programs menu' should be a feature programmed into the next release of PC-BSD in order to stop other n00bs like me from doing it.

*EDIT* I fixed it. I was specifying the wrong command in the 'Command' section of the KDE Menu Editor. However, I still re-iterate my point about not letting users delete the menu from the K Menu.

Scrap what I said earlier about everything working fine now. I just tried to PBI Firefox. It went through the routine OK but when I checked in my 'PBI Programs' menu on the K Menu, it wasn't there.

It is in /usr/local/share/applnk/My Programs/Firefox.

What's the difference between:

/usr/local/share/applnk/My Programs

and

/usr/local/My Programs?

Should I be pointing my K Menu entries to the former or the latter?

P.S. this is beginning to get really interested - I'm starting to learn my first understandings of the PC-BSD file system.

PBI are located in /Programs/<AppName>/ theres also a symlink for compatiblity with OLD PBi's some where, like /usr/local/MyPrograms/ or something that just links to /Programs.

It's good to learn the file system, Unix style has a much more logical structure then DOS style.

Usefual note: Config stuff is usally in a directory "etc" or share/<appname>, binaries (like .exe) in a "bin" or "sbin", system files are usually in the top or root file system "/" as far as I know. (like /etc, /bin, /sbin). Things not apart of the core OS are under /usr such as /usr/bin, /usr/home, /usr/local/, /usr/X11R6 (where the X Server dwells).
