portsnap > Fetch Ports in 1.2 .....???
Whenever I got to use the fetch ports feature, it just gives a little flash & nothing happens. Before it would bring up that little % done bar, & eventually make it to 100%.
I have run the "cvsup /root/ports-supfile" successfully.

It is better to use one tool at a time. If you started updating with portsnap then do it in future too. If you first time used cvsup or csup then you can't use portsnap to update ports properly.

Oh, O.K., I was not aware of that. I will just periodicaly run the "cvsup /root/ports-supfile" command in the terminal.

What causes this behaviour? And if someones makes a "mistake" of running cvs-up first or vice-versa, how could he "remedy" the situation?

Portsnap is using own database of ports and then extracts only changes. CVSUP is checking actual files and syncronize as needed. portsnap is faster, but cvsup is more robust and can fix your broken port(your changes) that portsnap can't.

Intriguing.
I always used portsnap as I didn't want to learn anything about CatSUP from ketchsup. portsnap fetch && portsnap extract or update is very simple.
After finding the files required in /root I found it most useful to cvsup ports and system sources.
Ashame they can make mix ups when mixing and matching the wrong way.
