Default [solved] 1.1: bootloader issue
Hello?

I just finished installing PC-BSD 1.1.

Prior to the install, I had Linux GRUB
bootloader on the MBR but I don't see
it anymore after the 1.1 install.

During the install, I chose not to install
the bootloader in the MBR.

So, how can I recover the Linux GRUB
back to the MBR and have an entry for
booting PC-BSD 1.1?

Thanks.

[solved]
Here's what I did:

* Reinstall the GRUB from the install CD.

* Call PC-BSD from GRUB (pcbsd.org FAQ)
- rootnoverify (hd0,0,a)
- chainloader +1
- boot

* Call PC-BSD from LILO
- other=/dev/hda1
- label="pc-bsd"
- table=/dev/hda

(assume PC-BSD 1.1 is on the first hard
disk drive with the default installation setting)

I had a simluar problem.

I installed PCBSD without the bootloader and was greeted with my Motherboards "Intel Boot Agent" inpace of the GAG bootloader on my MBR.

A reinstall of the chosen bootloader worked well.

Note: That that has only happened to me ONCE in many installations.

GAG, THE GRAPHICAL BOOT MANAGER
Current version: 4.6

http://gag.sourceforge.net/

This is the bootloader I use and I love it.
Super easy setup and you can have up to 9 different OSs installed.
When I want to do a clean install of a new version of PC-BSD, I just delete the partitions and boot from the PC_BSD cd and install the new version. On reboot GAG comes up and I just add PC-BSD back and save and I am set.
I am an uber n00b , so if I can use it , anyone can.
