Hi All,
The Knowledge Base especially (Motherboard)Hardware Compatibility is
way Out of Date. ?
If there is a "specific" link to a full list of compatible PC-hardware -I couldn't find it ?.
And if not, Can we please have a link right on the
http://www.pcbsd.org site that lists ALL compatible hardware such as PC-Motherboards, ...,and Manufacturer desktops' (Dell, Gateway,...) that work.
Or, just update/add to the existing one.
I think the Knowledge Base, under "Hardware Compatability", still lists the same two Motherboards (from like 2 years ago !

, the Asus A8V Deluxe , and ?
We need to expand this list and let USER's out there put up the ones that work, exmaple, the MB's that work right-out-of-the-box, or if not then what they did to fix it,...?
Suggestion:
-for example, Sun, has a nice web-based (Open)Solaris-x86/amd64 Hardware compatability list site, in which the user can simply submit their compatible product(s) list, and "dmesg" output attachments.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
anyway, I'd like to start, and I'm quite impressed with the fact that "everything" worked for me "stable-right-out-of-the-box" installing:
PCBSD DaVinci 1.4
Hardware Specs:
-Asus M2N-E mobo / AMD 64-X2 4600+ (AM2) CPU.
(with NVIDIA nForce MCP55/570 Ultra AMD chipsets, Lan, audio, ... all worked).
-NVIDIA 8800-GTS 320Meg GPU card.
(KDE was never faster!

using latest included nvidia drivers.
-Acer AL2216W 22" LCD (1680x1050x32)
-Audio (HDA Codec: Analog Devices AD1988B).
(1) PATA/IDE PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D /w firmware 1.22.
(1) SATA Seagate 320Gig Sata in ahci (non-raid) mode.
Note: (NON-RAID mode only) -I havent tried it with "Raided" drives yet. anybody got Raid goin'?

Cons ?: crappy Kaffeine "crashing" now and then when watching DVD's -really annoying.
Pros ?: Kmplayer (or installing the latest Mplayer ports) much better for watching movies,...
