Default uninstall option
to uninstall software one has to go to ->start -> system -> pc-bsd settings -> remove programs

Think it would be usefull if the pbi installation also adds a "uninstall" link under -> start -> programs -> package name:

e.g. -> start -> programs -> firefox
-> firefox
-> uninstall Firefox

When "uninstall Firefox" has been selected, it should ask for root pwd

I agree. Excellent suggestion.

The MS Windows InstallShield has had this feature for years.

The need for Root Password makes it foolproof. InstallShield doesn't have that

Not sure. I never use this option under Windows. Maybe this would make it kind of redundant? :roll:

What others think?

Yeah, a slight clarification...

It can be redundant under MS Windows, because in the Control Panel there should be the Add/Remove Programs section which most people use.

In the past I've found that doesn't always work fully, whereas if there is an uninstall provided in the "start menu" it seems more reliable. Hence that's why I use that - but obviously only if it is there.

I believe that within newer versions at least the Add/Remove Programs is only a front end to the programs own uninstaller.

Now if only Windows had an uninstaller that worked ^+^ j/k

I like the fact that Kmenu just gives you just the app, not the app PLUS the uninstaller PLUS the Manual PLUS the readme PLUS the link to our website PLUS yadda yadda yadda.

Nice & Clean.

But I agree it would be better not to have to drill down through three menus to get to Remove Programs.

I know that blows. Having the junk or having to wade through.

Note to self make a shortcut of Remove programs on my laptops desktop to ease PBI testing.

I think I'd rather not have the additional Uninstall option under the "Start > Applications" menu.

I prefer the present solution.
Menus are shorts.
In my point of view a link to an uninstaller in the same directory of the program is not very useful.
Simplicity, simplicity !! and efficience.
