ROFLMAO
Kscd is the ONLY app on my pc, that not only automounts but also autoplays audio cd's.

Does this problem happen with Kaffeine as well? (assuming you're using it). Audio cds in Kaffeine play after you configure the xine subsystem (config is inside Kaffeine).

I'm looking at the cddrive light, while it's playing an audio cd on Kscd. It blinks once in a second, this means it's using the drive's native audiocd playing ability, not the data extraction method used e.g. by win media player.

You have to configure kscd to look in on drive!

What happens when you manually mount the audio cd through konqueror? You should see a list of .cda files.
After the manual mount can Kscd start playing this cd?
Can Kaffeine play the cd?
Have tried the playing the disc on another non-pc device to verify that it is indeed an audio cd and not an empty one? (yeah people are lazy, my self included).

How can it work out of the box, if it can only be configured for one device (if you have 2)?

Afaik, one cannot mount audio CD's in FreeBSD.

It's true, i have two devices. (Isn't it stupid that one can only use one fixed device?...

Anyway, i re-tested KsCD and Kaffeine.

Using KsCD, the audio CD is detected and starts playing but no sound. This was my original problem.

Using Kaffeine, i can hear the CD if i run Kaffeine and choose "Play audio CD".

It doesn't work if i right click the CD icon on the desktop and ask it to be run with Kaffeine.... :?

What i want (and what i think PC-BSD should do) is to have the CD playing automatically when i insert an audio CD.

Things aren't very user friendly right now are they? This must be improved.

#UPDATE#

So i know FreebSD can't mount audio CD's. How do the media players mount them? Just for curiosity's sake?

I have only cdrom, not dvd, but had exactly the same problem with KsCD. I changed the setting so it could find cd and it did infact read and appear to play it( drive was blinking, told me title and tracks), just no sound. I asked help on forum and continued to play with sound options with no luck until update installed kaffiene. While not bug free, this does play cd's so its not a hardware issue. This particular problem has been around for a while though, so I hope someone can take a look at it.
