Default Averatec touchpad
I have just installed PC-BSD on my Averatec 5110H laptop. The installation was easy and everything looks great. I am having one small problem. My touchpad is not working. Anybody have any ideas on where to start? Thanks.

research into the following ports could help you:

Code:
sysutils/ksynaptics # KDE control center module for Synaptics touchpads
x11/gsynaptics # GNOME Synaptics Touchpad setting tool
x11/libsynaptics # Library to access the Xorg/XFree86 Synaptics TouchPad Driver
x11-servers/synaptics # The Synaptics touchpad X driver

I did a little research and did portsnap to populate my ports. I then did make install clean for the following ports. My touchpad is still not working. What should I do?

sysutils/ksynaptics # KDE control center module for Synaptics touchpads
x11/libsynaptics # Library to access the Xorg/XFree86 Synaptics TouchPad Driver
x11-servers/synaptics # The Synaptics touchpad X driver

I do not have a touchpad device to check this with, however it is offered in hope that it helps. Check your XF86Config file for the following:

Code:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Touchpad"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "LeftEdge" "1700"
Option "RightEdge" "5300"
Option "TopEdge" "1700"
Option "BottomEdge" "4200"
Option "FingerLow" "25"
Option "FingerHigh" "30"
Option "MaxTapTime" "180"
Option "MaxTapMove" "220"
Option "VertScrollDelta" "100"
Option "MinSpeed" "0.06"
Option "MaxSpeed" "0.12"
Option "AccelFactor" "0.0010"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
Option "Repeater" "/dev/input/mice"
EndSection
No guarantee on this since I have no hardware to test with.

DragnLord, should I add that information to the configuration file or should I replace the entries for the mouse?

DragnLord, I entered all that information in at the end of the configuration file. I then rebooted and still no touchpad. What next?

as I said, I don't have the hardware to test at will
(although I had totally spaced the issue earlier today when I was working with a 3150 model)

one suggestion: get and burn FreeSBIE 1.1 (it's a "live cd"), boot with FreeSBIE
if touchpad works, copy the XF86Config file for use in PC-BSD

That is a great idea. I will try to copy the configuration file from the live cd. I will get back to you.

I was looking at the KDE Control Module for the touchpad. The top right hand corner in the information box says Using driver version: None. Do you think in installed the driver incorrectly?
