Change the splash screen?
Hello *BSDers,
I would like to change the startup splash screen from the flowers to possibly the cool PC-BSD splashscreen from the CD (PC-BSD - Style, etc.). Or maybe even turn it off.. Any suggestions where I can do this?
Thanks,
Schwach

Look at /boot/loader.conf file.

To disable it, you can do:
Kmenu-->Computer-->PC-BSD SEttings -->System--> Kernel Tab
and un-select the "Enable Splash Screen"
But all this GUI configuration only change (as stated by antik) the /boot/loader.conf
splash_bmp_load="YES" --> splash_bmp_load="NO"

I wonder, is it possible to force FreeBSD kernel to "talk less"?

The file /boot/defaults/loader.conf is full of useful variables that can
be set to change the default load behavior of system including changing the splash screen. This file should not be edited but overrides are to be put into one of the loader_conf_files instead and these defaults can be updated later without spamming the local configuration information.
