Default KDE tips&tricks
If you don't like default look of KDE, then you can customize it. I have some simple tricks for you and describe them shortly. WARNING: Always make copy of files your modify!

Adding Clock for login manager:
Edit /usr/local/share/config/kdm/kdmrc:

LogoArea=Clock
For security reasons I always disable users listing:

If you don't want to quess someone your password:

You can change most options under KMenu -> Control Center -> Administration -> Login Manager

You must enter administrator mode and input root password to do most any thing useful.

However it is very useful to learn to hand edit files as they some times allow things not changible via the Control Center or regular program settings !
