Hostnames
Why does every computer I install PC-BSD onto use the same hostname????

my guess is that it is just a defaukt name... to start with ...nothing more, the same way suse linux (eg) would name "linux"; is it that important?

I already pointed this issue to Kris and some other hostname misconfiguration also... But this is no issue, if you have external dns server properly configured.

Oh well.
And not really I geuss G0lem, but it's annoying when you have multiple boxes ^_^
Suppose its time to start doing some hand work again.

I think I've found a nice little system.
OS.Company.PCName.
Making my personal computer (a Gateway GM5048)
PCBSD.GW.SAL1600 ....I just don't know how to mention it's a WinNT/PCBSD dual boot without making it lonager hehehe.

it just came in my mind: if you really hate the default names, you can just modify the source from the iso image... and reburn it 8)

Installer may just ask, what hostname you want...
