Default update PCBSD 1.orc2
Hi everybody,

i really need some help.

I am complete new to FreeBSD or any other Unix based OS. I recently decided to give the latest PCBSD version a try and was surprised how easy it is. I have a Nexoc S602 notebook and everything worked fine right from the beginning.

Since now! I installed the update no. 1 1.orc2 and now i can't use my notebook anymore. I can see the yellow PCBSD picture that tells me "starting the system" and nothing happens. There ist even no sign that my notebook does anything!
I don't know if it is useful but at least I can boot to WinXP Professional

Is there a possibility to undo the update or repair the system?

yes, pop in the RC 1 disc, plus, next time you can look at the System controls to remove the splash screen. I personally hate splash screens, just in case the system goes down during bootup.

I am installing the 1.0-rc1 Patch #6, but it has been on the 98% done for about an hour. How long should it take? None of the other .pbi's I've installed took long. The slowest one was OO.org and it only took about 3 minutes to finish.

well, nevermind I did what I didn't want to do, hit cancel. I thought it was going to take a while for it to cancel, but it was done right away, so I went to reboot and the entire KDE menu was gone. Rebooted and KDE was gone completely. Did startx and could not find. So I am installing rc1 again, this time no rc2. Thanks anyway.

Strange - I must be livin' right or something. Both patch 1 & patch 2 for RC2 went perfectly. It downloaded both of them and tried to install both which didn't work, as patch 1 needed to reboot, so it meant I download p2 twice. But the install went fine and it rebooted fine (knock on wood).

I installed rc1 on my new system yesterday and updated to rc2 /w current patches

When it takes a while to install it is usually doing something in my brief time on PC-BSD
