configure x problems-mouse pad issues
I wrote earlier about configuring x as my screen size was improperly set and thus I get a small screen inside my larger lcd screen. I tried to cinfigure x by using xorgconfig in a terminal as root and go through all of the questions and then when I reboot it hangs up and I can't restart or even start x? Maybe I am setting the parameters wrong. I am not sure of all of the settings that are asked. It is a basic lcd laptop screen. 1200 x 800 resolution. I have an ati graphics card with I think 64-128 mb on it. I have a Sony Laptop PCG-K33 and it is similar to any Toshiba satelite with a 15.4" lcd monitor. I went to xorg website and tried in windows to see the settings of my monitor but I can't find the information that x asks for like the frequency settings, etc. This is a big or small issue. I really want to use PC-BSD but this is a major stumbling block. My boot time seems to be better but the screen and then other minor issue such as my synaptic touch pad mouse works but the click feature when tapping on the pad or the scrolling feature do not work. Are there drivers for laptop mouse pads in BSD? Can I get ndiswrapper and install a windows driver?? I can live without the mouse although annoying, the screen is a bigger problem for now. Any further tips, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I am impressed with the overal function of PC-Bsd. Seems extremely stable, installs very fast! One gripe is it is very difficult to find a terminal!! I have to search for files and type terminal emulator. I can't find it in any menu?
Keep up the great work. I see much potential and hope to switch over to BSD completely when I can resolve these issues!!
