I have had this problem with both the rc1 and the rc2 on one particular computer. PC-BSD will install and run perfectly on other computers I have tried to install it on to. It was not a bad disk, and I downloaded the ISO and burned it myself, both times, using a slower speed than usual.

I think it stopped in the same place as yours did. It partitioned and formatted the HDD and stopped.

Did you have the same problem with rc1? Or is rc2 your first try with PC-BSD?

Maybe you would like to reply giving details of the computer, motherboard, hard drisk drives, drives configuration etc etc

Default re: install fails
Hi, Richard.a
rc2 reachs the disk set up screen and everything just stops, no HDD activity at all. the last time that I attempted to install pcbsd 1.0 rc2, using a disk set purchased directly from PC-BSD store, it sat at that screen for a half an hour, doing nothing..
So I just gave up and went online to the forums, using my eMac, and I read Kris Moore's
notice about the install bug.
The PC I use is a clone built with an Asus mobo #A7V333 (using a Via chipset) an a ATI
Radion 9100 graphics with an AMD Athalon processor 1.4gig and 1.5 gigs of RAM. I use
a hdd swap-out kit, that is a frame holder mounted in a 5.25 optical bay, with a carrier that actually holds the hdd, allowing me to use different hdd's (and therefore different distro's)
I use an Envision 17" LCD on this setup an haven't encounted any issues with it after using at least a half dozen or so different linux distros, including PC-BSD 8.3 which I 'm using today..
I'd appreciate any ideas you might have as I really like PC-BSD and I'm still too much of a newb to resolve some of the more serious issues I occasionly encounter :?
