The update to pkg 1.2.x breaks all backwards compatibility with pkg 1.1.x, hence the inability to find packages anymore. The new 1.2.x package sets for PC-BSD started uploading a couple days ago, so they should be done/available here really soon.

I also noticed some directories having their ownership set to my user, which caused VirtualBox to complain.

If you can't wait for repositories to be updated, I think you can edit a config file. For example, I edited /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/pcbsd.conf like so:
Code:
3,4c3,4
< signature_type: "fingerprints",
< fingerprints: "/usr/local/etc/pkg/fingerprints/pcbsd",
---
> signature_type: "pubkey",
> pubkey: "/usr/local/etc/pkg-pubkey.cert",
This makes it resemble the old version of the same file.

Hmmm...

Now this:
Code:
# pkg update
Updating repository catalogue
digests.txz 100% 1113KB 556.7KB/s 563.4KB/s 00:02
pkg: No signature found in the repository. Can not validate against /usr/local/etc/pkg-pubkey.cert key.
pkg: Unable to find catalogs

After another pkg upgrade today, the new packages seem to work for me. I needn't do anything else.

If you performed the change that "Wes" suggested above, you will now need to return it to the original configuration to get the new packages.
