Default Offline pbi install?
Hello,

Is it possible to grab a pbi of an application from somewhere and copy it across to another pcbsd 9.0 machine (without having to worry about dependencies) to install it there, without an internet connection available?
If I'm not wrong that was possible in the previous version. Still so? If yes, how?

Thanks!

Sure, just grab needed .pbi file (pbi_add -R) and install it on target machine pbi_add (filename.pbi) command.

arrowdodger is correct.
The AppCafe does not currently keep the downloaded PBI files after it installs them. In order to keep the actual PBI you will need to run "pbi_add -R (pbi-name)" from the command line. Alternatively, you can re-package an installed PBI back into the .pbi file by using the command "pbi_create -b (pbi-name)".

We will be adding the ability for AppCafe to save .pbi files probably in time for PCBSD 9.1

Lost track of this thread and just read the responses..
Thanks to both!

Another question regarding this:
when I keep the downloaded file or repackage it as suggested, then copy it to another pc with a fresh installation of pcbsd 9.0, will it have all the dependencies it needs inside the pbi? (suppose on the original pc I already had some other application with shared dependencies installed before downloading the pbi I want to copy over)

Yes.
The PBI format specifically includes all the needed dependencies for the desired program and works independently of what you have installed on your system, so it should work no matter which system you install it to (as long as it is a PC-BSD/FreeBSD system ... :-P)

If you want to download .pbi without command line, you can visit:
1. 9.x i386 PBIs, or
2. 9.x amd64 PBIs
