Default App-Cafe improvements
Sorry for spamming...

I thought it would be nice having some extra infos in the App-Cafe.

So I'd like to see the URL when I put the cursor on top of the developer-name. Clicking will bring me to their homepage, but I like to see first where the journey goes.

Second I like to know how big the files are I'll download. Could you set up an infofield with the pbi-size? And maybe also a date, when the pbi was updated the last time? I'd really like to know this stuff before installation.

I also agree with Rakor's request. And I was also wondering since PCBSD 9 offers several DE's; is there a way to identify in APP CAFE which apps will only configure within a certain DE ?

I would like to add a request too. When you add a PBI to download, it's a bit boring to be redirected to the download tab, then we have to go back to the browsing tab. Couldn't be possible just to modify the page with "This app XXX has been added to your download queue" ?

Thanks !

I think a better solution would be to test each PBI under all DEs.

The PBI testing process should really be automated, at least the basic parts like clicking all buttons to check it doesn't crash.

There is an old thread

http://forums.pcbsd.org/showthread.php?t=16652

I think is better to have all AppCafe improvements here.

According to this thread is needed that download is saved

http://forums.pcbsd.org/showthread.php?t=16279

Could Download use for save perhaps

/usr/pbi/pbi-downloads

or

/usr/pbi/PBI-Downloads

Then is light to share (with NFS or something others) on more FreeBSD and PC-BSD computers to save Yours Bandwith.

And to install on others computer with

pbi_add ports.pbi

If are used many PBI then is AppCafe too vast. Could You add a option to sort as normally as in Browse section (cat/ports)? If a PBI from a categorie is installed, then this categorie is displayed else not displayed.

Have now installed PBI

pbi_info | wc -l
130

Option by installing to execute if needed

/usr/pbi/port/.sbin/.pbi-install.sh

to all user have icons and executable in /usr/local

This is needed for Fluxbox menu which looks for Icons in /usr/local/pixmaps and /usr/local/icons. I must allways use this for mine Fluxbox.

A patch for uninstalling to use

/usr/pbi/pbi-arch/.sbin/.pbi-uninstall.sh

http://forums.pcbsd.org/showthread.php?t=16679

An Option to install updates for all installed PBI, not only for one by one. This is usefull if there are many installed PBI.

Thanks

Are there such apps? I'm asking because so far I've found all my choices will work in Fluxbox, Xfce, and KDE. It seems that the correct libraries get pulled in regardless.

I am using LXDE so...am experiencing some compatability issues with it.

9.2 has a new AppCafe which has all of these, except for the date of the PBI.
