Skype
I just installed skype via AppCafe under PC-BSD 9 RC2 (32 Bit, KDE) and got the following error message when trying to start.
ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
/usr/pbi/skype-i386/share/skype/skype: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/pbi/skype-i386/lib/libSM.so.6: ELF file OS ABI invalid

Just want to say the PBI for AMD64 works fine, so issue must be with i386 only, if anyone can confirm.

This appears to be fixed now (just tested on 32-bit RC3). Please let us know if you still have an error.

Experiencing same problem on RC3
First let me say that I am really impressed with PCBSD. I am coming from the Solaris 10 world so I have a bit of a learning curve, but what I have seen thus far, PCBSD is really put together quite well. Nice job!
Anyway, I am running PCBSD 9 RC3 as VirtualBox guest (Win 7 64bit host) and I am getting the same error as described in earlier posts.
Any ideas?

We just released the latest version of Skype into the AppCafe, which should fix the "ELF file OS ABI invalid " error for 32-bit. You might have an error with the audio playback on 9.0-RC3 with the new version (so don't upgrade if it already works for you), but the source of the problem for this has already been fixed for 9.0-RELEASE (which should be coming very soon). So once you upgrade to release, the new Skype PBI should work perfectly.

No video since upgrade to the updated 2.2 version
It worked in previous version...
Still no microphone - it is connected to another mixer than playback device and I cannot choose mixer in Skype.
OK playback after alsa-oss package installation.

Skype Running...but no Audio
Thanks for the update. Skype loaded up just fine.
Unfortunately, the audio doesn't work - it might be a VBox issue or it might be the issue you described re: RC3. I am going to update to the release as soon as it is available.
Thanks for all your help.

Still no video after update to RELEASE.
Webcam is working fine - i've tested it in VLC Player, so it's a Skype issue. I can choose /dev/video0 but there is no flux video.
Please, help.

Hi All
I add myself to this topic because I have the same problem about webcam: on PC-BSD 9.0 32 bit KDE, with Skype installed using AppCafe, the webcam does not working (no problem about audio/microphone).
Using the Kopete's test and online (Chatroulette test) the webcam works.
Kind Regards
