Default PCBSD 9 beta test
Hello,

Is there a page somewhere that describes what is to be expected from a beta? I would like to avoid reporting issues that are known or not expected to work at this phase.

Some examples:
- During install there was no option for a bootloader, despite what is customary in releases. With an XP installed first in my laptop I was unable to load PCBSD. Tried EasyBCD to no avail, finally applied FreeBSD to fix it.
- Clicking on Network Configuration a dialog reported sensing a new wireless hardware (bw0) asking if I want to use this hardware or stg, but after that no item referring to it is displayed. What can I do to make it work? In 8.2 I had to some manual work by adding some firmware port.

Thanks!

Default followup to wireless
An entry has been generated in the rc.conf, so I restarted the system.
The following modules are loaded then: if_bwn, siba_bwn, bwn_v4_ucode, if_bwi, bwi_v3_ucode and a wlan0 (Unknown Wireless Device) network adapter did appear in the list. However it can not be configured: Scan gives no network.

Default wireless
In /var/log/messages I see a lot of bwn0: the fw file(bwn_v4_lp_ucode15) not found. /boot/module contains bwn_v4_lp_ucode.ko as closest to the mentioned name.
If I unload bwn_v4_ucode and load bwn_v4_lp_ucode manually wpa_supplicant and then dhclient finally works.

Since I have not seen related config entries in /boot/loader.conf I wonder what I am supposed to do not to load what is not needed and to load what is needed.

Thanks!

Default wireless half baked
In my quest for a working wifi I moved away bwn_v4_ucode an put bwn_v4_lp_ucode into loader.conf. Messages shows that wpa_supplicant works. However trying to see all these from the PCBSD settings manager the GUI had freezed. After restart it stops at console login, does not proceed to graphical login.

I am stucked here.

Any help appreciated.

Can I get back somehow to the graphical login other than reinstalling the PCBSD?

Thx!

I've added that module to load automatically in the next update. Also
when the system froze it may have corrupted something. Can you login at
console and check /etc/rc.conf, does it have your entries in it?

Yes, that is it. rc.conf is empty (just as wpa_supplicant.conf).
If I got a basic one, that could save me a reinstall.

Thx for your help!

OK, I could revive it. My observation if the two above mentioned firmware are both loaded, bwn can't find the *_lp_* one. I had to remove the plain one from rc.conf.
