Default PC-BSD9 and Flash
Hi guys,

I just make some tests with PC-BSD9 in Virtual Box. Apparently it doesn't have Flash plugin support, only few applications works and only if they are installed from the app cafe. Also, the 8.x applications can't be installed at all.

Did I miss something?

Thanks,
phpwolf

By the way, Gnome works great

Try running "flashpluginctl off" then "flashpluginctl on", does that work?

Also, PBIs for 8.x do not work on 9.x. You'll need to grab the right
ones from these pages:

64bit
http://pbibuild64.pcbsd.org/index.php?ver=9

32bit

Thanks for the tips!

I tried off/on for the flash plugin and it worked with the Chrome browser, but the konquerror still can't open flash files.

Also, browsing your 9 repository with the pbi files, I see you have only few pbi's here. Question: if I compile from the sources some applications and I make pbi for these application, may I submit those pbi files somewhere to be used by others?

And question2: it is considered politically correct to get packages from the freeBSD repository, install them on the machine and transform it to pbi kits?

Flash plays just fine in Konq here for me. Is flash listed in
"aboutlugins" for Konq? Also, if you start "konqueror" from a konsole
session, does it show any errors when it loads flash media?

Also, those URl's I sent have a ton of PBIs on it, which ones are you
missing? The "appcafe" doesn't list them all yet, and wont until we get
to RC status.

Installing FreeBSD packages may not work in building PBIs, since they
need to be compiled with a custom PREFIX.

Hi Kris,

The problem was solved. From some reason, the konqueror was not able to find the flash plugin. After a "search plugin" in the konqueror settings toolbar/plugins tab, it was finded as installed in my home/user/.mozilla folder. I give the path to the flash plugin manually and now everything works great.

Regarding the pbi applications: I use several multimedia applications such as banshee media player or kdenlive wich are not seems to be listed in your repository.

Glad you fixed it!

The AppCafe will only have minimal PBIs until we are near RC status for
9, since any we upload now will have to be replaced at that point anyway.

In the meantime, you can manually download PBIs for 9 from the sites below:

http://pbibuild64.pcbsd.org/index.php?ver=9
http://pbibuild.pcbsd.org/index.php?ver=9

Use the "pbi_add" command to install, or double-click them in your
file-manager
