Default Pidgin needs SSL support
It would be great if Pidgin were compiled with SSL support. Failing that, it would be groovy if there was a SSL plug in. Google now requires SSL connections, so gmail talk fails without them.

I'm getting an erratic problem with this - I'm not sure if pidgin was actually pre-installed with kde.

I didn't check and installed the pbi. Sometimes it doesn't work and I get told I need ssl, and sometimes it does.

For a while I thought that using the Twitter launch from the desktop (which I think came from the PBI) was the one that worked.

Using the one from the menu (which I'm thinking might have been there from install) didn't.

However, I'm not sure that this is the case as it just seems to be intermittent whichever launcher I use.
