Default Intel Onboard Sound...no error...won't work.
Just installed the OS on my old IBM box. Has an Intel ICH sound card....the driver loads fine, and I get no errors according to dmesg on boot up.
It however doesn't work. I'm trying to load OSS driver but it says that, after I try "./oss-install", another driver is loaded and to please unload it before installing OSS.
How do I unload the current sound driver?

thanks.

Use the following to remove a driver from the system (although it'll load again on startup):
Code:
kldunload drivername

I tried

kldunload snd_emu10k1

and that worked

but

kldunload sound

tells me that it can't unload it cause the device is busy.

hmm.

yep that worked...but when I use the kldstat command it lists a driver called "sound" is still loaded and won't unload cause it's supposedly busy......

thanks for the help so far though.
