No sound with Realtek ALC883

Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm using version 7.2.

My problem is that I'm not getting any sound through anything, such as amarok, vlc or even in the test in system settings. I do however get the sound at the login screen perfectly fine.

I have the correct drivers loaded for my card (snd_hda), and I tried the fix in the 7.2 release notes about changing the default device. There are 2 devices shown in system settings (for the same card), and I've tried both of them as defaults.

I have no idea where to go next, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

KDE could be muting your sound on login. Double click the speaker icon in the bottom corner of your screen. KMix should pop up. Make sure the PCM and Main volume bars are turned up and not muted.

I checked that, and it is for sure not muted, and turned up.

Edit: Scratch that, Front was fine, PCM was muted for some reason, any reason why the os would mute that after login?

At least on my laptop, the mixer volumes that I set, are retained between boots. If I run `mixer pcm 0:0 && reboot`, I won't have sound at startup lol.

Exactly how that works, I don't know off hand.
