Default new and interesting errors
'Lo

Tnx for the latest update. I forgot to post before I went on vacation that with the latest update, the updater icon in the tray kept saying there were updates. I get back, install the latest update and that no longer happens.

I also forgot to post that there is a problem with the logout button - when I click on logout, it shuts my system down. This behavior continues with the latest update.

Also with the latest update, I'm seeing some new errors.

Upon login I get many many error windows popping up. Most say either
could not find mime type "application/octet-stream"
or
Could not find mime types:
"inode/directory"
"inode/blockdevice"
"inode/chardevice"
"inode/socket"
"inode/fifo"
"application/x-shellscript"
"application/x-executable"

These seem to be related to a bunch of scripts running as several kwrite windows also pop up editting various files such as checksounderror.sh, checkupdater.sh and checknvidia.sh.

At the very end, after I make all the windows go away, I see (or get, unsure when it pops up), a window that says:
Error launching /PCBSD/local/kde4/share/applications/kde4/kwrite.desktop.
Either KLauncher is not running anymore, or it failed to start the application.

Pls let me know if I can provide any more information.

I think your KDE4 configuration or system files are probably flubbed up.

You might try backing up ~/.kde, ~/.kde, ~/.local, and ~/.kde4; then removing them, and logging back into KDE.

Wow, this helped a lot. Tnx.

Oddly, this even fixed the problem where the system would shut down when I clicked logout.

Didn't fix the problem completely tho'. I still get the error tho' only with 1 window. I can also cause the bark at will simply by clicking on the PBI link in the Desktop Folder. When I do that the edittor comes up, IIRC it's kwrite, with:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Icon=konqueror
Name=Download PBIs
Type=Link
URL=http://www.pbidir.com

and 2 windows come up with the following barks:

Could not find mime type "application/octet-stream"

(and)

Could not find mime types:
"inode/directory"
"inode/blockdevice"
"inode/chardevice"
"inode/socket"
"inode/fifo"
"application/x-shellscript"
"application/x-executable"
"application/x-desktop"

Also, FWIW the firefox permission error endures with 3.0.10. I did the pbi upgrade and still got:

Root Dude ? cd /Programs/bin
Root Dude ? ls -l firefox
lrwx------ 1 root wheel 38 May 18 09:52 firefox -> /Programs/Firefox3.0.10/.sbin/firefox3
Root Dude ? cd /Programs/Firefox3.0.10/
Root Dude ? ls -ld .sbin
drwx------ 2 root wheel 512 May 18 09:52 .sbin

If I chmod the perms and relink everything works great.
