Default Can't change screen resolution in VirtualBox
Hi
I'me veeeery new to BSD (and *nix )
I've installed PCBSD 7.1 successfully on VirtualBox 2.2, now screen size is small
(it's surrounded with black margins)
In [System Settings -> Display] there are only 2 options for size:
800 x 600 and 640 x 480
Is there a way I could add higher resolutions to this list ?
Or maybe I'm better using VMWare (Does anybody know if VMWare has support for BSD ? VirtualBox does not include Guest Additions for BSDs)

Thanks

Default Re: Can't change screen resolution in VirtualBox
Hi,
I'm fairly new to PCBSD and BSD myself but am enjoying the journey, I do have a fair amount of experience with Linux & Mac though. I started out working with BSD's in virtual machines until I can find a new laptop to dedicate it to. Its funny you mentioned Virtualbox because that is the first one I worked with and it wouldnt work with BSD's at all so they must have got that ironed out recently. The best virtual machines for BSD's are done on vmware.. I use vmware fusion on a mac to create then copy and transfer to another pc, if you install vmware tools and you can get any resolution you want plus some other cool features.. with vmware you can copy and move VM's around without any trouble but on VirtualBox if I remember you have to run a special routine to run another instance of the same VM. If you only have vmware player you can still create vmx files to experiment with.. go to easyvmx.com to create the vmx files then install your own flavor of BSD.. PCBSD works awesome on vmware, enjoy!
