I can compile the kernel pc-bsd after I installed on my laptop, that does not harm my system.
And I can also upgrade the ports of my system without harming the OS.

Yes, you can compile the kernel without it harming your system if you do not makeinstall the kernel that you compile. Or just make sure the kernel us usable!

CVSup or "portsnap fetch extract" or "portsnap fetch update"

The current version of PCBSD (7.1 RC1) has separated PBIs & ports. You'll be able to upgrade and install any port you wish without harming the existing PCBSD setup... if I'm understanding things correctly.
