Cannot dump. No dump device defined

Just my 2 cents.

ohci(4) is the OHCI USB Host Controller driver. If you have a USB PCI card plugged in, try removing it; if you've got any USB devices hooked up (especially USB 1.0 devices), try removing them. Then once the system is booted, do a control+alt+f1 to the systems virtual console, and plug them back in; see if she panics.

I believe, ohci = usb1, uhci = usb1.1, ehci = usb2 controllers.

As to the error message; I don't have time to inhale /usr/src/sys/dev/usb/ochi* and the OHCI/USB specficiations, but I would guess you have a device for USB (likely 1.0) with a kink in its operation, or there is a problem in how FreeBSD handle something some where else; whichever one in tern causing an issue with what the ohci driver finds. (It would take gaining an understanding of whats happening to really know; one I sadly don't have time for :-()

ok... I tried unplugging all my usb devices, and I still got the same error...
However...
I thought I would try disabling Usb Legacy support in my bios... then I tried pcbsd again, and I didn't get the error that I had before, it seemed to go well... but then I got a different error... I got this...

HARDWARE FAILURE asc:8,3
Logical unit communication
retries exhausted
cddone: got error 0x5 back
:cd0[READ(offset=32768, length=2048)]error =
ls: /dev/da*: No such file or directory
Error mounting install image!!!
Please report this problem to PC-BSD support!
press ENTER to reboot

I am guessing this means that the kernel doesn't support my Cd/Dvd Drive. LOL....
That is funny if I am right...
Never had a problem in Linux Before... this is strange..
My hardware is as generic as it gets! lol.

its an oldish Pioneer 16x16 cd/dvd rom drive

Yeah, I suppose that would be the next logical step, but neh.
Im too lazy to mess about much more.. if it don't work on my hardware, then bugger it. maybe the next release will have better hardware support built into the kernel
but i won't hold my breath

I'm only a Linux user curious about Bsd.. Linux works just fine for me
cheers for your help anyways.

What works, let's us get stuff done, and doesn't cause hair loss in the progress - is usually a good idea ;-)
