Default How to uninstall PC-BSD?
Hello

I just downloaded PC_BSD 7.0.1 and liked it but unfortunately it doesn't run fast on my system and since being fast is an important element for me i chose gentoo as a replacement.

I simply did format the drive which contained PC-BSD and installed gentoo on that drive by livecd but when i reboot and go to boot up my fresh installed gentoo it fails because the booter application of PC-BSD (i don't know what's its name, psd version of grub??) is completely confused and i can boot nothing not even my windows XP.

I did think the only solution would be deleting everything and every drive and start freshly from zero point. so i backed up my important data on my creative zen touch (life saver) and formatted entire hard disk.

BUT i was shocked when i did reboot the system and realised that the PC-BSD booter is still there tells me to press F2 (default) and nothing else and when i press F2 nothing happens.

please help me to fix this problem that's becoming a nightmare

You need to overwrite the Master Boot Record with generic boot code. Alternatively, you could wipe the entire disk clean or temporarily convert it to a logical drive. GParted boot up CD should allow you to do either of these options.
I use a commercial program called System Commander.
Also some OS installs will over write the initial boot up code - Windows, Solaris, etc. Most Linux distributions don't unless you tell them to.
What are you trying to install on the hard drive?
To get the GParted CD go to:

If you're using GNU/Linux and keeping it around, I'd suggest using the live CD to install GRUB into the MBR. (If you go with the generic boot code, install GRUB into Gentoos / instead).
