Default MS wireless keyboard and mouse
Hello, I'm new to PCBSD, and was recommended here by my younger brother who has a whole lot better understanding of this than me. I've been with Windows too long. Anyway, I was installing PCBSD-7 a couple of days ago and I'm having trouble with the keyboard. I have a Microsoft wireless desktop elite keyboard with the wireless intellimouse explorer 2.0 mouse. After installation, the basic mouse functions work without the extra buttons, but I have no response at all from the keyboard. I can plug in an old ps2 keyboard and use it, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of having something better. Everything works fine when I boot into windows though. Maybe someone here has some thoughts on this to help out. Thank you.

It should be possible to setup the extra mouse buttons to do something useful, the keyboard however, I would guess is probably a paper weight. If you have a USB / PS/2 adapter, you might try that with your keyboard (unlikely to work imho, but worth a shot).

While my friends swear by their Logitech G15's, I still find a standard issue 104 key QWERTY board the best thing since the typewriter hehe.

Wi Mouse and keyboard are big NONO for a n00b unless he is willing to read through man pages for Xorg. Adapters are highly unlikely to work. Actually
M$ Wireless keyboard is highly unlikely to work with any Unix or Unix like system period. Get yourself an old IBM M-type keyboard for an authentic Unix experience

Thanks for the responses guys. I've an old GE slim office keyboard I keep around for backup when things go to crap. It is working pretty good with this now. Have to keep the M$ keyboard for the M$ programs I guess..

Hi,

I know this is not a post that helps as a answer to your problem. But i think i should tell about this, so at least some one knows what is best and what is not.

I got my wireless keyboard from press digital few months back and so far i'm very happy with it.Non of those problems didn't occurred for me. So if you are going to buy a wireless keyboard next time i highly recommend this. What i love most about is, it's ability to roll over so i can put it in to my pocket anywhere i go.

Thanks,
Shank

Hi all,

Found this thing called GadgetAccess yesterday. I was really impressed with it by the first look of it. It got all the hot reviews but also most importantly it got all the hot gossips and rumors about products.Might help to anyone who likes to stay updated about mobile worlds.
