I have been experimenting over the past year with PCBSD and DesktopBSD. On each I have problems with my Broadcom 43xx Wireless driver. The problem is they are not recognized. The solution is to use the Windows Drivers bcmwl5.inf and bcmwl5.sys with ndisgen and generate a bcmwl5_sys.ko BSD driver. This will work with the 32 bit install. The 64bit install of PCBSD and DesktopBSD will produce the bcmwl5_sys.ko driver but when loaded it will not light the Wifi and connect. Windows also provides a bcmwl64.sys which I tried and produced bcmwl64_sys.ko which also does nothing.
BTW.. The bcmwl5.sys works fine on a Linux amd64 install with either ndiswrapper and b43-fwcutter to connect the WiFi.
So have any 64bit BSD users encounterd this problem?
Any suggestions or Solutions?
As I am using a series of amd64 machines the majority of the time and running a Linux amd64 on them I don't want to run 32bit. I do perceive an improvement.
Just for the record also tried the new bwi driver (for broadcom type cards) being developed and it was a failure as well.
