Maybe it is Just me personally but with PCBSD I find it undesirable for each window to open up Dead Center on my Desktop. Some may love it.
Of course you can right click the title bar of the offending window and
Advanced> Special Windows Settings> Geometry[Tab] check Placement and Force - Smart.
..but you would have to do this with each window/app and then it would remember.
So to simplify things for those who choose they can
... edit a configuration file, this section explains the options in the kwmrc file, located in /.kde/share/config.
Your Home Directory
Change
to
and Save
Restart your KDE desktop Logout and Login.
This option determines how kwm places windows on the desktop when they are first opened.
Now the windows won't pile up on the Center of the Desktop and a New Window won't try to cover up the last opened window.
