Default Gnome Mplayer || Mouse wheel for vol control
I have used Gnome Mplayer before with some Linux distribution. That version of Gnome Mplayer has a feature which enables the volume to be controlled by the mouse wheel.

I use a cordless mouse & it acts like a remote control for me.

So, please upgrade Gnome Mplayer to a version which has the above mentioned feature.

I just tested out the current gnome-mplayer PBI in the AppCafe and it looks like using the mouse wheel to change the volume works fine. I did notice that the mouse cursor needs to be hovering over the sound icon to modify the volume, so maybe that is the issue? They might have updated the program to allow the scroll wheel to simply interact with whatever the mouse cursor is hovering over. For instance, it also tries to move the position slider when hovering over that (though not very well).

I feature I am referring to doesn't need the mouse cursor to hover over the sound icon.

See the second last option

OK, I have done some searching, but I do not see any special build options for the port that enable this setting. It does look like the port it a bit out of date though, so I would recommend sending the port maintainer[1] a message asking for him to update the port, since it might be an enhancement in one of the more recent versions of the program.

First of all thanks again for making Smaplayer vdpau capable.

The link at the end of my previous message take you to the freshports information page for the gnome-mplayer FreeBSD port. Near the top of the available information for the port is the name/email of the current port maintainer. Just send him/her a quick email asking that the port be updated, and specifically mention the feature that you are looking for in the updated version (just in case it is an additional option that has to be setup).
