Using PC-BSD 9 (64-bit).
Hi
When I connect my headphones, I don't get any sound unless I manually make a change.
After *lots* of Google searching, I eventually discovered that I must go into a Terminal and type:
sudo sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=5
and then the sound works through the headphones. Any programs which have been opened must be closed and re-opened for the sound to work in them programs e.g. the Chromium web browser and sound in YouTube videos.
I don't have this problem on the same computer when I use Ubuntu 12.04 or Windows 7 (both 64-bit).
I'm a newbie to PC-BSD, so hoping I don't get any complicated technical replies to this posting. Cheers.
