Default KDE Components Segfaulting
After installing KDE from the system manager, its various components (plasma shell, amarok, konqueror, etc.) keep segfaulting; seemingly at random intervals of time.

Did you enable desktop effects in KDE? Which driver are you using for the video card? Do you have the same problem when logged into another window manager?

Nope, I have desktop effects turned off, I'm using the "intel" driver, and still encounter the same errors when using any KDE component (e.g. Amarok) in another window-manager (e.g. LXDE, or stumpwm).

I seem to recall that when I first attempted to install the KDE meta-package, there was an error during the installation process. Perhaps the source of my problem lies in some left-over corrupted files/libraries that aren't being removed when I uninstall the meta-package. How do I do a complete uninstall/reinstall of KDE4?

System Manager should cleanly remove and install KDE. If that doesn't fix it, it may be worth while to backup your data and try installing 9.1-RC1. Both the video driver and KDE are up-to-date which may fix the problem.

Ah. In that case, I'll just wait for 9.1-release to roll around and then perform the upgrade.

system manager does not cleanly remove KDE in 9.1 rc1 either.
